How can team training improve your fitness journey?

Whether you’ve been a solo lifter for as long as you can remember, or have just started lifting and are keen to try new things, team training could be the missing piece to your training puzzle. .

Team training can provide the little push you need to step out of your comfort zone, experience the thrill of healthy competition, and help you build empathy and teamwork. Physically, you’ll get StrongHer (see what we did there?!) , more agile and experienced, all while having lots of fun!

What do we mean by team training? Grabbing one, two or three other team mates and working through a workout - together! It’s a team effort every step of the way.

We are all in this together

As you start to work together with your teammates, you’re going to start to (hopefully) feel a strong sense of camaraderie. . You become part of a small fitness family, united by the shared goal of wanting to be a badass! It’s also great if you struggle to keep yourself accountable or need to be dragged to the gym when you really don’t feel like working out.

In the gym, your teammates can  spot you, offer guidance, suggest new ways of training, share new workouts and exercises, and provide encouragement when you need it most! You’re working towards a shared goal - so that achievements and milestones become shared victories. Because of that, you’re more likely to come back to the gym the next day and push yourselves even harder!

Beyond the gym walls, it’s a chance to form friendships and connections because  you’ve got something in common as a basis! We know how hard it can be to make friends as an adult?! Please don’t tell us we’re alone with this! A randomised-control trial study found that team training leads to improvements in overall psychological well-being, including reduced stress levels and increased feelings of happiness and life satisfaction. So it’s technically a win-win situation!

Time to take it to the next level?!

Fitness competitions are generally not beginner-friendly (unlike our own StrongHer Games - check it out here) and so can feel like they’re a long way away from your current fitness levels. . Which is why team training makes for a great alternative whilst you work towards your first competition!  Having that dose of healthy competition and focused training will keep you challenged and motivated to continue.

You’ll soon discover which team member likes to be in charge, the one who takes everything seriously or the one who’s just there for fun - the thing is you’ll all bring something different to the table, resulting in all the cheering and high fives you could ask for.

Breaking the solo training rut

For those of you who typically train alone, joining a team can breathe new life into your fitness journey. The monotony of solo workouts can sometimes lead to stagnation and a lack of motivation because you don’t have anything tangible to work towards. You can get stuck in your own workouts, limiting beliefs and blind spots. Team training injects freshness and variety into the routine, making each session more exciting and dynamic.  The presence of teammates introduces new exercises, training techniques, and perspectives that can reignite enthusiasm and inspire you to reach new heights. Your body and mind will thank you later for this!
