MAX OUT day: 3 reasons to get involved
MAX OUT days is one of our signature StrongHer events - we get together, lift some heavy sh*t and leave feeling inspired and on cloud 9 - it’s a *very badass* day.
We’ve been having MAX OUT days since we opened our studio back in 2020, and the StrongHERD absolutely loves them. But if you’re new to the community - or you’ve no clue what the hell you’re supposed to max out here - this is the guide for you. Today we look at what to expect from MAX OUT day, and 3 reasons to get involved!
Building strength is a slow process - but there’s a method to the madness. The method is called progressive overload - gradually increasing the demands placed on your muscular and nervous system, which in turn leads to adaptation - ie. building strength. What that looks like in practice is your LVL Up split - adding a few more reps in every week or adding a few more kgs. And voila, by the end of it - you’re strongher! But how do you know for a fact that you’ve become strongher - unless you test it?!
This is where MAX OUT day comes in!
#1 Test your strength & measure your progress
MAX OUT day is that perfect opportunity to test how strong you’ve become in a structured and safe manner. We do that through testing your 1 rep or 3 rep max on your 3 main compound lifts - squat, deadlift and bench. This time around, we’ve also added in a cardio component for those of you who would like to test that cardiovascular fitness!
Feeling like a superwoman aside, testing your strength will also help you measure your progress. Unlike the number on the scale, progress pictures or body measurements, testing strength through compound lifts is one of the most objective ways to measure progress - weights don’t lie! If you could deadlift 30kg 6 weeks ago, and now you can deadlift 35kg - you know for A FACT that you’ve become stronger.
#2 Safety first
There’s method to the madness of building strength, and there’s method to the madness of how much strength you’ve built. And this is why we encourage you to come to MAX OUT day (instead of say, do this on your own) - our amazing coaches will be there to help you do it the right way, without injuring yourself. Lifting heavy weights is loads of fun - but it’s also no joke - so we want you to stay safe. We’ll show you how to warm up, build up to your 3 rep max, safely perform your 3 rep max, and stretch after. Doing this can be a big shock for your nervous system, so we’ll also talk about what to do & eat after.
#3 Community, period
Last but not least, the StrongHERD community. We’ve seen this so many times over the years - PBs, previously unimagined, flying around the studio as you lovely lot smash your lifts. The atmosphere at MAX OUT day is unmatched, members are cheering on each other, there’s screams, laughter, and tears of joy. We can’t begin to express how much that helps when you’re trying to lock that third deadlift rep out!
