Four tips to prepare your mind and body for the winter season

As we savour the last days of autumn and delve into winter, it's time to take a deep breath and make that mental transition. But don't let the dark mornings and cold temperatures get you into hibernation mode. We're here to share our top tips for adjusting your mind and body to the season when it comes to fitness.

Know what time of day works for you

Getting your workout in first thing in the morning or after work can seem way more manageable when it's lighter outside. But, whether you're the early morning workout kind or prefer after work, it's going to be dark. SAD FACE. While you might want to pack it all in and curl up on the sofa - stick to the routine you've already created - you know you'll feel better! Carve out the same time that works for you every week but permit yourself to be flexible with what you do in that time—not feeling a sweaty workout? Get out for a walk instead!

Recruit a workout buddy

It's time to recruit a friend and hold each other accountable. Did you know team training can massively help your fitness journey in ways you didn’t expect! Bring a friend on your guest pass to a Force class and smash the workouts together or why not say ask someone in the gym to spot you at the squat rack (spoiler alert: this might be the beginning of a lifelong friendship!)? Having someone with you when you're training helps to mix things up and keeps it interesting!

Get outdoors

Despite the colder temperatures, ensure you're still getting fresh air and stepping away from your desk at regular intervals! Whilst it might be more difficult to motivate yourself to get outside when the temperatures are dropping, spending time in nature can help lower blood pressure, reduce cortisol and adrenaline levels and improve overall mood. So, pop that scarf on and head outside.

Surround yourselves with good vibes and plan things in your diary

Summer socials - rooftop vibes and sundowners are all the rage through June, July, and August, but as people gear up for the festive season, September, October and November can feel like a damp squib. We KNOW how important it is for your mental health to have things in the diary to look forward to - big or small. It could be going out for your favourite coffee, starting a new book, or not rushing through a gym session because you have to get to work.

Don't worry; plenty is going on to keep you occupied at StrongHer over the next few months, and we've got like-minded individuals to connect with, train with, and help you feel fabulous!
