Hyrox at StrongHer

Soooo we did a thing! We’re now officially a Hyrox-affiliated gym, and we couldn’t be more excited about it! This means that we’re now qualified and one of the chosen ones to be able to deliver Hyrox classes properly and safely to everyone who wants to get involved!

If you haven’t heard of Hyrox yet, have you been hiding under a rock?!

Hyrox is THE fitness comp that everyone and their dog are doing. It’s exploded in popularity in the last couple of years, and there’s a good reason for it! It’s designed to challenge participants  with running and functional fitness stations in an interval format - you run 1K, complete a functional fitness station, rinse and repeat 8 times. It’s crossfit, reinvented. The beauty of it is that it’s a race for everyBODY. Unlike crossfit that requires quite a bit of technical skills, strength and endurance, Hyrox has been designed in a way that everyone can finish it. And this is what it’s about - finishing the race. Weather it’s in 59min or 3h, it’s you vs you - and you receive a ‘finisher’ badge regardless of your time. There’s championships for the pros, of course, which makes it even more exciting - Hyrox has transformed a lot of average gym goers into everyday athletes and beyond! There’s more - you can do it alone, you can do it with a friend in a doubles men, doubles women or doubles mixed format, you can even do it with three of your mates in a relay!

You see why we love it, right?

Co-founders Tig and Sam did Hyrox last year, and they really fell in love with the format, the inclusivity, the fact that it’s accessible to everyBODY! So we decided to bring it into StrongHer space which means that anybody at any level would have the opportunity to try something they’ve never done, and not feel any pressure or expectations whilst doing it!

Whether you have recently signed up for a Hyrox comp or you couldn’t think of anything worse that doing it - we guarantee the two classes we’re introducing will put a spring in your step, get you sweaty and improve your fitness levels!

We have two Hyrox classes on the timetable, and while you’ll get a taste of the Hyrox experience in both, they are also slightly different.

Mondays at 6.30am we kick off the week with Hyrox Complete! This is exactly what it sounds like - a mini Hyrox simulation. While we won’t make you do a full Hyrox race on a casual Monday morning, you will go through the Hyrox format - run, fitness station, run, fitness station, etc. You can run at whatever pace is comfortable - or challenging - for you, and there will be plenty of opportunities to progress or regress the intensity of the fitness stations.Remember, the goal is to simply complete it!

Wednesdays at 6.30am and 8pm - as little mid-week pick-me-up - we have our Hyrox Engine. This one is good old erg work - ski, rowing, assault bikes - basically all the universally hated pieces of kit - and they’re all in one session!  But we love it because it will help you work on your endurance, conditioning and aerobic threshold - the bits we usually forget about when we’re just lifting heavy!

If you still need some convincing, how about a 40% discount on a drop in session to test the waters?
