Top tips for building a sustainable routine at the gym

Consistency is one of the key points to consider when looking to start a new gym routine or your fitness journey. It's not just fitness, but all the goals you set, and we want you to succeed so much both in and outside of the gym!

The thing is, you might think that motivation will keep you going, but it won't. Hate to break it to you, but it's a myth that we spend all of our time searching for - waiting to be motivated to start a new routine, go to the gym, or try a new class! Quite a lot of the time, we hide behind it. And we've all been there, don't worry. We tell ourselves we'll start on Monday, wait until the kids return to school, or until we've finished that project at work. We SEE YOU 👀.

But why are you waiting? What's stopping you from stepping into your greatness right now?! Chances are you feel like you have to go ALL IN and because you can't commit to that. Instead of an all or nothing attitude, how about a sustainable routine that you can build on?

We wanted to share some top tips for building a sustainable routine in the gym that you can stick to without waiting patiently for the motivation to return.

  • Keep it real. Want to be heading to the gym six days a week, but at the moment, you only make it twice a month? Keep your goals realistic by adding just 1 or 2 consistent workouts into your week. You can always add more when you feel able to.

  • Find your time. Your life might not fit into the 'that girl' timetable, and that's okay! Whether you're in the 6 am class or the last one leaving the gym at night, find the time of day that works best for your schedule and body to squeeze in a workout. And with our brand new gym-only space, those solo sessions will get much easier to fit in. Keep your eyes peeled for updates.

  • Bring your BFF. StrongHer wouldn't be here without these two BFFs. And what's not to love about extra accountability and to hang out with your bestie? You can bring them to our Force class on Friday evenings for FREE!

  • Everyday counts. Your daily activity is a great way to boost your fitness routine. From walking the dog to hoovering the stairs, set a step goal (ours is 10,000) and try your best to hit it even on your rest days!

  • DON'T SWEAT IT, GIRL! You're doing your best, and we're proud of you. If you have a couple of weeks off or need to try something new, that's okay. You know where to find us, and we'll always be here to cheer you on!
